Wine & Vintage:
Cuvee Brut 2005

Grape Variety:
chardonnay 60% — pinot noir 40%

Background:
“What is paramount is that the wine is refreshing, cleanly balanced and with a persistent flavour,” says Nick Bulleid MW, when speaking of sparkling wine.

Using the classic Champagne varieties of chardonnay and pinot noir, Elgee Park has produced a sparkling wine with a biscuity aroma, light bead and lengthy finish.

Australia’s most sought-after grapes for sparkling wine come from vineyards located in the cooler southern regions. Elgee Park’s location in the cool-climate Mornington Peninsula region makes it an ideal place to produce grapes with the delicate flavours and high acidity required for base wines.

Vintage Description:
Harvested on March 10, 2005

An elegant wine with fine structure and excellent length. It displays fresh apple aromas with notes of oatmeal biscuit.
Stored in our cellars for 36 months prior to disgorgement it highlights mid palate flavours of freshly baked bread, so characteristic of ‘Methode Champenoise’. Its light bead presents a fresh delicate finish.

Winemakers: Geraldine McFaul & David Cowburn

Cellaring Potential:
A well balanced wine which can be enjoyed immediately or cellared for several years.

Price:
Bottle — $40
