FAMILY RESERVE PINOT NOIR 2010
Variety: Pinot Noir Region: Mornington Peninsula
Harvested: 17th March 2010 Alcohol: 14% Vol
Planted: 1988 Clone: MV6
Colour: Dark red with a brilliant deep red hue
Bouquet: Sour cherries and dried herbs
Palate: Full bodied, rich and intense with red cherries and chocolate that lingers for a long time.
Vintage: 2010 was relatively consistent, with good rainfall and warm ambient temperatures. Yields were low, producing intense flavours in the grapes
Winemaker: Geraldine McFaul
Winemaking: Harvested at ideal ripeness, the fruit was de-stemmed and inoculated, then fermented on skins, before being pressed and transferred to barrel. Following malolactic fermentation the wine was racked and returned to barrel. The wine was then matured for 11 months in French oak barrels of which 30% was new, adding complexity and structure.
