Winemaking

Elgee Park has recently celebrated its 50th vintage — a milestone made all the richer by the fact that our contract winemaker Geraldine McFaul (Gerry) has been part of the journey for more than half of that history.

Gerry's relationship with Elgee Park fruit began back in 1995, working alongside Tod Dexter at Stonier. When Tod departed in 2003, she stepped into the role of senior winemaker, continuing to shape the character of our wines.

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Gerry took on the role of head winemaker at Willow Creek Vineyard (now Rare Hare Wines) in 2008 — and for us, the decision to follow her there was an easy one. Her skill and instinct for drawing the best from fruit, vintage after vintage, made her an obvious choice to continue our winemaking journey. Time spent working vintages in Burgundy has only deepened that expertise, giving her a particular affinity for the varieties at the heart of what we do: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Our Philosophy

At Elgee Park, we believe great wine begins in the vineyard, not the winery. Our approach is one of patience and restraint — allowing the fruit, the season, and the site to speak for themselves, with a gentle hand guiding the process rather than dictating it. It's this respect for place and vintage that defines every bottle we produce.
